I. Project Background

The southern region of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, has long faced a water shortage problem, with residents and agricultural workers in several villages and communities experiencing extreme difficulties accessing domestic and agricultural water. To address this pressing issue, we utilized the YRT350 truck-mounted water well drilling rig to conduct a public welfare drilling project in the region. The project aimed to drill sustainable water wells free of charge for water-scarce communities, improving the living conditions of local residents.

II. Technical Parameters and Equipment Configuration

The core equipment of this project was the YRT350 fully hydraulic truck-mounted water well drilling rig, specifically configured for Zimbabwe's complex hard rock formations to ensure stable operation under high-intensity, high-efficiency operational requirements.

1. Core Performance of the Drilling Rig:

• Power and Mobility: The drilling rig is equipped with a Sinotruk SINO HOWO 6×4 heavy-duty truck chassis and a 371-horsepower engine, boasting strong off-road capabilities and rapid site relocation, perfectly adapting to the complex road conditions of the Bulawayo suburbs.

• Core Output Parameters: The drilling rig references the YR350 high-performance platform, possessing powerful output capabilities.

• Torque: The maximum output torque is no less than 6500 N·m, sufficient to handle the drilling resistance of deep hard rock formations.

• Lifting Force: The maximum lifting force exceeds 20 tons, ensuring the safe and efficient lowering and pulling of well casing at depths of up to 200 meters.

• Speed: The spindle adopts stepless speed regulation, with a wide speed range (0-120 rpm), meeting both the high-efficiency rock-breaking requirements of down-the-hole hammer percussion drilling and the stable hole formation requirements of rotary drilling.

2. Key Supporting Systems:

• High-efficiency air compressor system: Equipped with a Cummins 264kW high-performance screw air compressor, providing powerful compressed air at 30 cubic meters per minute and a pressure of up to 2.5 MPa. This configuration perfectly drives large-diameter down-the-hole hammers, achieving environmentally friendly drilling using air instead of water. Simultaneously, the high-speed airflow efficiently removes slag, ensuring rapid well completion in arid regions.

III. Project Execution and Results

During project execution, we overcame challenges such as complex local geological conditions and insufficient infrastructure.

1. Technology Application: For the common hard rock formations in the region, such as granite and gneiss, a "high-pressure down-the-hole hammer drilling technology" was adopted. Utilizing the high torque of the drilling rig and the high air pressure of the air compressor, a large-size hammer is driven to efficiently break the rock formations, increasing the average drilling efficiency per well by approximately 40% compared to traditional methods.

2. Deliverables: Successfully drilled multiple drinking water wells with a depth of approximately 200 meters in several target communities south of Bulawayo. Each well was rigorously fitted with standard well casing and properly filled with filter media, resulting in clear, stable water flow that fully meets the daily basic water needs of a community.

3. Public Impact: This project has provided a sustainable source of clean drinking water for over 5,000 local residents, significantly alleviating the burden of long-distance water collection for women and children, reducing the incidence of waterborne diseases, and earning high praise from the local government and community residents.

IV. Project Significance

This project is not only a successful demonstration of technical capabilities but also a significant social welfare initiative. It proves that the YRT350 drilling rig, as a high-performance, highly reliable modern piece of equipment, is fully capable of meeting the stringent requirements of international public welfare projects. By applying advanced drilling technology to humanitarian aid, we not only delivered wells but also brought hope and vitality to the local community.
